Clinical Assistant Professor of Biology
Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Microbiology faculty position in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology beginning in August 2022.

This is a non-tenure track, 9-month, full-time position with the potential for additional compensation during the summer depending on departmental needs. A major responsibility of the position is to serve as a departmental coordinator for the Fundamental Microbiology courses which are serving the population of students pursuing a nursing degree.

Coordinator responsibilities include taking a leadership role in

a) refining the curriculum to meet the needs of the diverse students whom we serve and to position them to be leaders in allied health professions,

b) supporting full-time and part-time faculty and graduate student assistants teaching the courses,

c) teaching the coordinated lecture and laboratory courses each semester, and

d) developing and implementing effective assessment tools that can be used to analyze teaching effectiveness and improve student learning. 

Depending on the candidate’s interests, additional responsibilities may include conducting research on teaching and learning in undergraduate education or engaging in service to the Department, University, and/or the general and professional communities. Candidates for this position must demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, inclusivity in the classroom and student success, and have experience in teaching of microbiology.

The minimum qualification is an earned doctorate in microbiology or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution or its foreign equivalent. The ideal candidate will have experience with, or will demonstrate the potential for, conducting assessments of student learning and educational outcomes in undergraduate education; coordinating courses in Fundamental Microbiology and streamlining assessments for multiple sections of a course; working collaboratively with faculty and mentoring students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds. Candidates with a broad range of backgrounds and leadership experiences are encouraged to apply.
