Postdoctoral positions

Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston

Department of Microbiology and Immunology

Laboratory of Dr. Stephen Tomlinson

Two positions are available. All work in the laboratory is centered around the complement system, and both projects encompass both basic and translational research. The laboratory currently has 9 members.

Neuroimmunology: A Position is available to study the neuroimmune response occurring after traumatic brain injuries, including long-term neurodegenerative sequalae of injury. Studies utilize different mouse models of mild and severe brain injury. Techniques will include advanced microscopy, cellular and molecular immune profile analysis, high dimensional analyses, detailed assessments of motor and cognitive functions, and the development of novel therapeutic approaches. (Recent examples of related work from lab: PMID 33446516; 33879257; 29437855; 29769288)

Transplant Immunology. This position is for investigation of how complement promotes early post-transplant injuries and subsequently modulates an alloimmune response. The work is focused on vascularized composite allograft transplantation using a mouse model. Immunological as well as functional recovery mechanisms following murine orthotopic hindlimb transplantation will be investigated. While advanced microsurgical skills would be desirable, they are not a requirement. (Recent examples of related work from lab: PMID 34899752; 33210808; 34334299; 28045880)
