The O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center and Department of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) are recruiting two to three NIH grant-funded Postdoctoral Research Scientists in the laboratory of Dr. Rui Lu. The Lu lab is interested in understanding epigenetic mechanisms underlying cancer development and developing targeted treatment strategies, with an emphasis on blood cancers such as acute myeloid leukemia. We apply both wet-lab techniques and dry-lab genomic profiling and bioinformatics approaches in different cancer model systems. For reference, please see our recent publications: Nature2018; Cancer Cell 2016; Cancer Research 2019; Elife 2020; Blood Advances 2021 and visit our website to learn more about our research: https://www.lu-lag.org
Candidates should have an MD or Ph.D. degree or should be close to obtaining their doctoral degree in molecular biology, cell biology, cancer biology, computational biology, or other related fields. Prior experience in gene regulation, bioinformatics, chromatin biochemistry, or transgenic mouse models will be preferred, but not required. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to establish multidisciplinary collaborations and utilize state-of-the-art genetic (CRISPR/Cas9, genome-wide screening) and genomic (ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, Hi-C, and single-cell omics) technologies for studying epigenetics and cancer. In addition to an exciting work environment, UAB offers a competitive salary and a strong benefits package.
How to Apply:
Applicants should send a full CV and a cover letter highlighting research interests and goals to Dr. Rui Lu: email@example.com. The positions are immediately available and will be open until filled.
