We are seeking a creative and motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our collaborative team.
Are you a creative and hardworking individual who wants to do research in an interdisciplinary and fun laboratory setting? The Haigis Lab at Dana-Farber studies the big questions in cancer biology using tools from the complementary fields of molecular biology, mouse modelling, proteomics, structural biology, and computational biology. In particular, our cancer biology work focuses largely on the influence of activating Ras mutations. Despite being one of the most frequently mutated genes in human cancer, KRAS mutations are most prominently observed in a small subset of cancers – namely colorectal adenocarcinoma, lung adenocarcinoma, multiple myeloma, and pancreatic adenocarcinoma, the specificity of which is not fully understood. Our primary approach is to genetically manipulate Ras signaling pathways both in vivo and in vitro and to use specific knock-in mice to investigate downstream large-scale signaling perturbations in vivo, using the pathogenesis of colorectal cancer as our principal model system.
Current projects are wide-ranging and focused on understanding K-Ras allele-specific functions and therapeutic vulnerabilities, multi-omics identification and analysis of miRNAs and targets which are affected by mutant Ras expression, and elucidation of ERK2 phosphorylation targets downstream of mutant Ras in vivo, as well as understanding the tissue specificity of Ras mutations broadly and of distinct Kras alleles more specifically.
Our team utilizes a wide variety of molecular and biochemical techniques, including, but not limited to, organoid culture, x-ray crystallography, mass spectrometry, phospho-proteomics, and in vivo CRISPR screens. We interact closely with cancer biologists, clinicians, computational biologists, and biochemists.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Designing and executing in vitro and in vivo experiments
- Conducting data analysis and interpreting results
- Maintaining accurate records, writing reports, and preparing and giving presentations
- Contributing to the overall laboratory safety, organization, and productivity
- Writing and submitting impactful primary research articles for peer review
- Writing applications for funding opportunities
- Ph.D in molecular biology, cancer biology, genetics, biochemistry or equivalent.
- Enthusiastic team player, and self-motivated individual
- Experience with both cell culture and mouse disease modeling
- Excellent English written and oral communication
- Peer-reviewed publication track record
