Multiple Research Scientist and Postdoc Positions (Virology, Glycobiology, Computational Biology, and Immunology) at the Wan Influenza SystemsBio Lab, University of Missouri-Columbia
The Influenza SystemsBio Lab (https://sysbio.missouri.edu/) at the University of Missouri (MU) is seeking multiple Research Scientists and Postdoc Research Associates in the areas of Virology, Glycobiology, Computational Biology, and/or Immunology. The Influenza SystemsBio Lab research focuses on emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, especially influenza and SARS-CoV-2 viruses, by developing and applying integrated approaches that combine laboratory, clinical, and computational methods. The focuses of current research projects: 1) to study molecular mechanisms of virus transmission, pathogenesis, and immunological responses for influenza and SARS-CoV-2 viruses; 2) to develop and apply novel methods for influenza vaccine strain selection; 3) to study the impacts of repeated vaccinations and/or infections on vaccine effectiveness; and/or 4) to develop novel vaccines and antiviral therapy for influenza and SARS-CoV-2 viruses.
The lab is physically located at Bond Life Sciences Center (https://bondlsc.missouri.edu) and has access to regional BSL3/ABSL-3 containment laboratories at the Laboratory for Infectious Disease Research (https://rbl.missouri.edu) and start-of-art equipment and facilities across multiple cores at the Bond Life Sciences Center and School of Medicine (https://bondlsc.missouri.edu/people/cores-programs/).
