The Department of Nutrition in the School of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) invites applications for tenure-track or tenured faculty positions at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Professor for academic research scholars with established basic science or translation research expertise in molecular nutrition and/or nutritional biochemistry. Applicants who not only have their own independent research in nutrition but can interface with existing faculty research strengths in immunology and inflammation, cancer biology, and proteomics and systems biology are in particular encouraged to apply.

In addition to office/research space, access to exceptional core facilities, competitive salaries, and generous start-up packages, we offer a highly interactive environment with exceptional intellectual, infrastructural, and administrative support. The Department is a highly interdisciplinary unit with 24 faculty members who influence the fields of nutrition, public and community health, metabolism, basic and translational biomedical sciences. The Department has expertise in community and clinical nutrition (including 8 RDNs) as well as strong basic science research programs. In addition, the Department has a strong undergraduate program and several master’s and doctoral level programs in nutrition and systems biology and bioinformatics.  Students at all levels actively participate in faculty research.

Candidates should have an PhD, MD or equivalent and relevant post-doctoral experience, an established publication record including peer-reviewed publications, and research funding commensurate with rank. Successful candidate will also be committed to excellence in teaching/mentoring students. Rank will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. Candidates for Professor should be nationally recognized for leadership and scholarship in their discipline.  Salary and benefits are competitive and salary will be commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the educational and mentoring mission of the department.

Interested candidates should apply by sending a CV, a cover letter, a statement of research plans, summary of teaching and mentoring experiences, a commitment to diversity statement and the names of 3 references. The candidate’s diversity statement should address how their research/teaching/service contributed to diversity, equity and inclusion within their scholarly field. Candidates may also/additionally indicate how they have promoted structural justice for institutions of higher learning.  Please send these materials in one PDF to Cheryl L. Thompson, PhD, Chair of Search Committee, Department of Nutrition, CWRU, 10900 Euclid Ave, Cleveland, OH 44106-4988 or email to nutrition@case.edu.  Review of applications will begin on 7/1/21 and will continue until the position is filled.  The anticipated starting date will be a mutually agreed upon date.

In employment, as in education, CWRU is committed to advancing an inclusive community in which everyone is welcome, respected, valued and heard. Along with colleagues across the university, our faculty, staff and students are engaged in continued and meaningful dialogue about issues of systemic racism, and we are determined to implement direct measures to end discriminatory practices on our campus and enhance our contributions to the communities around us.

As our society grapples with the history, legacy and persistence of entrenched racism and its impact on communities of color, we reaffirm our mission to expand opportunities for underrepresented groups; provide a multifaceted education for our students; foster a culture of diversity, pluralism and recognition of individual difference; and realize our ideals within the university and in the larger world.

Case Western Reserve University provides reasonable accommodations to applicants with disabilities.
