The Broad Institute and the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, Massachusetts) seek applicants for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, effective July 1, 2022, or as soon thereafter as possible.  The applicant's research program should involve the development of cutting edge computational methods (including machine learning, artificial intelligence and/or statistics) that could drive the frontier of biomedical research at any scale (molecules, cells, tissues or organisms).  The successful candidate will have research space at the Broad Institute and will be a faculty member in the department of EECS at MIT.

Successful applicants are expected to share our commitment to undergraduate and graduate education by teaching courses and supervising graduate and undergraduate research, as well as develop and lead a vibrant, independent research program that would benefit from being in the Broad Institute environment.   This position involves teaching in the Schwarzman College of Computing.   Candidates are expected to have had formal graduate training in computational science (as opposed to a primarily biological research background), and hold by the start of employment a PhD in the field of computer or mathematical sciences; biological, chemical or physical sciences; or in an engineering field; an MD; or equivalent terminal degree.   We are interested in candidates who are committed to and will contribute to our goals towards diversity and inclusion.

Applications should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a research statement (2-4 pages), and a teaching statement (1-2 pages).  In addition, candidates should provide a statement on diversity, inclusion, and belonging, including past and current contributions as well as their vision and plans for the future in these areas.  Letters of recommendation should be sent separately from at least three individuals able to evaluate the candidate’s accomplishments and future potential  Application materials should be submitted to https://faculty-searches.mit.edu/bree/.

Completed applications will be reviewed after January 6, 2021

MIT and Broad are equal employment opportunity employers.   All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, ancestry, or national or ethnic origin.   We are committed to building a culturally diverse intellectual community and strongly encourage applications from historically underrepresented groups to apply.
