The Department of Physics aspires to become the leading physics department in the Asia-Pacific region. With its global scholar recruitment campaign, the University aims to recruit outstanding scholars from all over the world in various disciplines.  The physics department is seeking outstanding scholars with expertise in the following research fields:

Theory and computational physics

–     High-energy physics/astrophysics/cosmology

–     Statistical mechanics/complex systems/non-linear physics

–     Machine learning/first-principles calculations/large-scale simulations

–     Quantum metrology and spectroscopy

–     Modelling of social and public health problems (e.g., covid-19)

Experimental physics

–     Quantum materials’ synthesis, particularly with expertise in single crystal growth

–     Quantum/nonlinear optics and quantum information

–     Ultrafast spectroscopy

–     Advanced spectroscopy/microscopy for soft matter and biophysics applications

Exceptional candidates outside the priority areas are also encouraged to apply.  Successful candidates are expected to have an earned PhD in physics or closely related areas, evidence of the ability to build and lead an independent programme of research, and a strong commitment to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.  Applications will be reviewed all year round until the positions are filled.
