Postdoctoral Researcher

We are seeking enthusiastic, detail-oriented applicants for positions of Postdoctoral Fellow to join a multi-disciplinary NIH/NIDA-funded Neuro-HIV team led by Dr. Schahram Akbarian in close collaboration with the Drs. Morgello, De Witte, Chen and Swartz . The School is one of the nation's leading medical schools, ranked in the top 20 schools for NIH funding. The Departments of Neurology, Psychiatry and Medicine and the Friedman Brain Institute offers an outstanding intellectual and multidisciplinary research environment with a commitment to translational research.  State-of-the-art infrastructure and support is available. 1. A postdoctoral position for HIV xenograft modeling of neuroinflammation is available. The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team exploring cellular and molecular mechanisms of HIV infection and inflammation associated with human progenitor cell-derived immune cells xenografted into the mouse. This highly interdisciplinary project will involve experimental neuropharmacology and behavioral studies in mouse model systems complemented by iPSC-based studies in cell culture. Candidates should have a Ph.D. and a strong background in translational models of neurological and immunological disease.   

2. A postdoctoral position for exploration of innovative techniques in human postmortem brain, including long-read single chromatin fiber sequencing and epigenomic profiling, is available. The successful candidate will work at the nexus of wet and dry lab, including design and testing of radically novel chromatin assays and their biocomputational analyses.
