ROLE SUMMARY
  • Work with a talented, cross functional team to develop a compelling and balanced narrative on Pfizer's innovative Research and Development portfolio and efforts for the investor community
  • Provide senior-level scientific, strategic and operational support to Pfizer's Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) and President of Worldwide Research, Development and Medical ( WRDM) and to the Vice President of WRDM Operationsrelated to effective creation and communication of the scientific narrative to the investor community related to COVID-19 programs, mRNA and broader R&D priority areas and programs
  • Monitor WRDM strategy and performance across a broad spectrum of measures and assess peer strategy/performance to help inform the strategic narrative to the investor community
  • Coordinate rapid, thoughtful responses to content-related requests of the Pfizer CSO/ President of WRDM related to the investor community
  • Ensure Pfizer's CSO/ President of WRDM is properly briefed and well prepared at all times for key meetings and presentations related to the investor community


ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Leverage knowledge of science & business to develop presentations for Pfizer's CSO/ President of WRDM to the investor community including at Pfizer Quarterly Corporate Performance meetings.
  • Conduct rapid analyses related to the narrative for the investor community for Pfizer's CSO/ President of WRDM, as requested, e.g., quick portfolio/pipeline analyses, benchmarking summaries, summarizing reports for briefings
  • Ensure creation of compelling scientific narrative to the investor community on COVID-19 programs, mRNA and broader R& D priority areas and programs in collaboration with Investor Relations (IR) and Communications team
  • Lead the development of Pfizer's CSO/ President of WRDM's presentation, Q&A and talking points for Pfizer Quarterly Corporate Performance meetings (in partnership with the IR and Communications teams)
  • Support addressing requests (in collaboration with Investor Relations) for information, analyses, actions and decisions from the CEO, Pfizer's executive leadership team (ELT) and other key stakeholders related the investor community
  • Partner closely with key scientific leaders at Pfizer such as the CSOs for various therapeutic areas (TA) to develop a compelling narrative within and across TAs for the investor community
  • Proactively create a watchlist of key programs and R&D themes to highlight to the investor community as well as a plan for when and how to communicate them (in partnership with the IR and Communications teams)
  • Manage an efficient process to gather scientific information and create a compelling narrative for the investor community
  • Periodically support Pfizer's CSO/ President of WRDM monthly 1:1's with the CEO by preparing discussion and background materials related to the investor community
  • Attend key external conferences and events to gauge key trends and peer strategy and performance in order to inform Pfizer's scientific narrative to the investor community


QUALIFICATIONS

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
  • PhD in Biology, Chemistry, or other scientific discipline, or equivalent required
  • 10+ years of relevant BioPharma experience including preferably 5+ years in R&D
  • 5+ years experience in management consulting, communications or equity analyst experience required
  • 3+ years experience in crafting scientific presentations for executive audiences required
  • Highly skilled at Microsoft Office applications, especially PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to multitask and deal with a large volume of requests / deliverables on a regular basis
  • Ability to quickly/effectively prioritize and balance competing tasks in real-time
  • Bringing a strong and advanced scientific mindset and knowledge to work on scientific initiatives and presentations for the Pfizer CSO/ President of WRDM
  • Willingness to take on and deliver against important tactical / operational tasks on a day-to-day basis
  • Ability to work independently and own deliverables from end to end and at the same time, being able to accept/respond to specific guidance from manager to support near-term or urgent tasks
  • Ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders
  • Sound business judgment and business acumen to ensure that the thinking and recommendations are grounded in reality and in the best interests of the business
  • Ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships with and influence key WRDM leaders (WRDM-LT and LT-1) and earn their trust - to facilitate easy communication and allow quick access to information needed for the President of WRDM
  • Ability to develop a broad, big picture understanding across WRDM units/lines so that this can be appropriately reflected in the Pfizer CSO/WRDM President's communications, presentations, briefings, etc.
  • Having a strong presence and interpersonal skills to operate/interact effectively with key Executive-level audiences when needed (e.g., ELT, BOD, CEO's office, Senior external partners, etc.)
  • Individual contributor with ability to work effectively in a matrix environment
