A postdoctoral fellow position is available at the Center for Infection and Inflammation Imaging Research, directed by Dr. Sanjay K. Jain at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (sanjayjainlab.org). We are looking for a qualified and creative scientist with an interest in working in infectious diseases, to join a multidisciplinary group working in the cutting-edge area of exploring noninvasive molecular imaging.

Our lab research centers around the intersections of infection microbiology, characterization of the host's immune response, optimizing antibiotic treatments (PK/PD), and developing new PET-based imaging tools. This work is mostly funded by the National Institutes of Health research program. A recent review of some of the key areas we are currently focused on can be found here: https://stm.sciencemag.org/content/11/508/eaax8251?intcmp=trendmd-stm.

For this position, the successful applicant must have a PhD or MD degree in cellular or molecular biology, immunology, microbiology, or related fields. The candidate must be enthusiastic toward research projects which include animal models and high-containment pathogens (M. tuberculosis and SARS-CoV-2), have excellent critical thinking skills, a track-record of productivity as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications, ability to work well both independently and as part of a team, and proficiency in written and oral English communication.

A successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead independent and cutting-edge research projects in a world-class research facility while obtaining valuable experience with the relevant technology that prepares well for future positions in academia or industry. We will also provide individual career development/support and access to an interdisciplinary and collaborative research community. Johns Hopkins University, the top US university in research funding, provides an outstanding environment for state-of-the-art research and an opportunity for cross-disciplinary collaboration.

This position will remain open until filled, and the salary will be commensurate with research experience.
