Postdoctoral research scientist in the Korem Lab, Columbia University Medical Center
The Korem Lab (https://koremlab.science) aims to obtain a mechanistic and actionable understanding of the microbiome’s role in human health and disease, using rigorous bioinformatics, statistical analysis and machine learning. As part of the Program for Mathematical Genomics and the Departments of Systems Biology and Ob/Gyn, we operate in an engaging and multi-disciplinary environment consisting of computational biologists, applied mathematicians, statisticians, physicists, and physicians. The lab operates at the intersection between computational biology and medicine, developing analytic approaches and algorithms and computational methods that aim to integrate multi-omic and clinical data to study health and disease.
We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher who is looking to work in a creative and collaborative environment on new analytic approaches for inferring the activity and dynamics of the human microbiome and other microbial communities. A strong background in statistics and causal inference is highly preferred.
Qualifications include:
- Ph.D. in any quantitative science (statistics, computer science, physics or similar fields) or in life sciences with a strong computational background. You will acquire any missing domain or biological knowledge with us.

Company
Welcome to the Rabadan Lab at Columbia University!
The amount of high throughput data in biological and clinical systems—from next-generation sequencing experiments to electronic health records—is increasing dramatically, allowing for the development of a quantitative understanding of these complex systems. Our lab is an interdisciplinary team interested in developing mathematical and computational tools to extract useful biological information from large data sets.
