Postdoctoral Research Associate
Position Summary
The Division of Pharmacoengineering and Molecular Pharmaceutics (DPMP) is engaged in research and education in drug delivery options to optimize the therapeutic efficacy of pharmacologically and immunologically active agents. It is a multidisciplinary endeavor requiring knowledge in pharmaceutics, chemistry, engineering, biochemistry, biologics, pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism, and biology.
Engineer antibodies for the development of cost-effective & potent therapeutics.
Equipment usage will include thermocycler, gel apparatus, spectrophotometer, and computer-assisted software analysis (CASA), as well as nanoDSF, size exclusion chromatography multi-angle light scattering (SEC-MALS), and microscale thermophoresis (MST) from MacInFac core
Perform procedures SDS-Page, ELISA, SEC-MALS and DSF to characterize all antibodies; Measure the potency of antibodies; Measure the complement-dependent cytotoxic activity using a bactericidal assay; Measure the neutralizing potency of antibodies using a luminescence-based assay; Coordinate the collection of human mucus samples for the lab.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD in Microbiology & Immunology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or other Health Sciences related area by the start date.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Strong preferences will be given to those who have a strong background in:
- Mucosal immunology/vaccines.
- Biophysical measurements, in particular multiple particle tracking and/or FRAP.
- Microbiology, including work culturing commensal bacteria and performing 16s rRNA sequencing.
