The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time tenure-track Investigator at the rank of Assistant Professor with interest in developing a research program in translational neuroscience. Successful candidates will aim to understand the synaptic, cellular, and circuit-level mechanisms underlying conserved biobehavioral processes relevant to major psychiatric disorders including depression, schizophrenia, trauma and stress-related disorders or substance use disorders. The faculty member will join a vibrant, multidisciplinary, and highly collaborative community of neuroscientists and clinicians at the Feinberg School of Medicine and Northwestern University. Applicants with interests in stress neurobiology, neuro-immune interactions, neuropharmacology, neuroplasticity, motivational neurobiology, and utilizing electrophysiology, in vivo imaging and large-scale neuronal activity recordings, human iPSC models, circuit manipulation approaches, or deep-phenotyping are encouraged to apply.

Qualified candidates will have an MD and/or PhD, productive postdoctoral training, and a strong track record of impactful research. Responsibilities of the position include creating an internationally recognized and extramurally funded research program and contributing to the educational mission of the institution. Physician-scientists will also be expected to contribute to the clinical mission of the department within hospital-based services.
