Lead a cross functional MDCI matrix team (including Clinical, EMU, GRA, Medical Affairs, Biostatistics, R&D Tech, Data Management) in the design, implementation and execution of the Molecular Disease Characterization Strategy, including the Molecular Disease Characterization Initiative (MDCI) protocol; Lead or actively contribute to efforts to generate data as part of the MDCI protocol and other opportunities (i.e. via collaboration across the EMU, Clinical and Medical Affairs or with external academic collaborators & consortia) Leading or actively contributing to the development of Disease Area Strategies for Oncology Leadership or the representation of GSK in the leading industry partners pre-competitive consortium to explore the expansion, utility and increase value of MDCI data/trial and precision medicine testing External outreach and partnerships with biomarker companies for data access, translational collaborations, and support of EMU and Oncology strategic priorities Engaging with internal EMU stakeholders to identify translational research gaps and identifying external partnerships to address them Engaging with industry and academic consortia to support EMU translational research strategy Job Responsibilities: The Director will collaborate with key stakeholders (EMU, MDTs, Clinical, Med Affairs, GRA, Commercial, R&D Tech, Data Management) in the design, approval and execution of studies in support of patient disease needs (e.g. MDCI protocol) and disease strategy designs. The Director will be a key point of contact and will collaborate with external disease experts and/or patient advocacy groups (ie. organizing advisory boards) in support of the EMU and Oncology R&D initiatives. The Director will be expected to gather input from and provide significant contribution and strategic information to key business partners and stakeholders, including the EMU, clinical, E/MDTs, medical affairs, AI/ML etc., to aid in the development of disease area strategies (DAS) and clinical trial designs. The Director will provide Molecular Disease information and disease strategic expertise to Research, Development, Pharma Partnering to support the optimization of new product or trial design opportunities. The Director will also act as a representative of GSK, presenting at external meetings. As MDCI expands, there is opportunity for this position to have direct reports. Job Qualifications: PhD in Life Sciences with 5 years pharmaceutical discovery and development experience or MS in Life Sciences with 7 years in Pharmaceutical discovery and development experience. Experience in translational clinical research and track record of academic and/or industry partnerships. Strong interpersonal, communication and matrix team leadership skills In-depth knowledge of drug development with knowledge of the application of PM/CDx/BMx tools Strong analytical skills. Must have the versatility and knowledge (expert scientific background) to effectively communicate critical oncology scientific and business information and to positively influence internal & external stakeholders. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills required - with demonstrated ability to communicate with senior leadership. Why GSK?
