The Wistar Institute is currently seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow to join the HIV research team in the laboratory of Dr. Luis Montaner. The Montaner lab combines virological and immune system-based research through long-standing community partnerships and clinical trials research, along with using laboratory models of virus infection.

The laboratory focuses on patient cohort and animal models to:

  • regulation of innate immunity in HIV infection and on ART
  • identifying new mechanisms of immunodeficiency (and discovering new approaches to reverse them)
  • exploring new cure-directed strategies
  • use of humanized mouse model in HIV infection

Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent (or be close to obtaining their doctoral degree) with a strong background in HIV virology, immunology, animal models, and molecular/cellular biology. Experience with molecular screening, bioinformatics, microscopy, and flow cytometry is a plus. Individuals eligible for National Research Service Award (NRSA) funding are highly desirable.

The Wistar Institute is located in the University City area of Philadelphia, in the heart of the University of Pennsylvania Campus. Wistar provides resources to its faculty and staff that enable them to conduct cutting edge collaborative research and provides for outstanding intellectual environments and state-of-the-art facilities. Research discoveries conducted at Wistar have led to the development of vaccines; the identification of genes associated with cancers; and the development of many other significant research technologies and tools.

We offer a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package.
