ASSISTANT PROFESSOR TENURE-TRACK POSITION - DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY, PURDUE UNIVERSITY

The Department of Biochemistry at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, invites applications from outstanding basic scientists for an academic year tenure-track assistant professor position.  We are interested in individuals who are studying biochemical pathways relevant to humans, plants or other organisms.  Examples include, but are not limited to, metabolism and human disease, or metabolic pathways in microorganisms, plays or other eukaryotes.  Candidates who are using systems approaches and tools to understand biochemical pathways and metabolism, e.g. computational approaches coupled with large scale genetic approaches and analyses, are particularly encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop an internationally recognized and extramurally funded research program, interact with diverse faculty, staff and students across campus, and contribute to the teaching mission of the department and university. The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Candidates will also be expected to function as an active member of the departmental and university faculty and foster a collegial and inclusive environment.

Purdue University has a large and vibrant life science community. Our faculty spans disciplines that include biochemistry, biological sciences, molecular genetics, plant biology, agriculture, engineering, pharmacy, chemical, physical and computational sciences. In addition to our biochemistry graduate program, faculty can also participate in interdisciplinary graduate programs with focus areas in biophysics, biotechnology, cancer biology, chemical biology, computational biology, microbiology, and neuroscience and plant biology. Core facilities for high-throughput screening, phenotyping, genomics, bioinformatics, microscopy, NMR, X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, flow cytometry, metabolomics, lipidomics and proteomics are readily available on campus.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in a relevant field, including but not limited to biochemistry, biological sciences, molecular and cell biology, genetics, structural biology, plant biology or computational biology. Applicants should have at least two years of post-doctoral experience or its equivalent, a strong publication record, the potential to develop a vigorous, extramurally funded research program, a commitment to hypothesis-driven research, teaching excellence, and the promotion of a diverse, inclusive and equitable campus environment.
