Leaders of the team each have, on average, 15 years of insights/analytics experience from different areas of Pharma and/or across other industries and are bringing this expertise to the table to help build a new foundational capability for GSK Medical Affairs. The purpose of the Manager, Medical Customer Insights and Analytics - Oncology is to analyse a variety of disparate data sources (including structured and unstructured data and RWE) and use advanced analytics methods to uncover powerful analytic findings at a customer level (Patient, HCPs/EEs, and Health Systems) that drive data-driven decision making for Medical Affairs strategic planning and execution. This role will translate medical patient unmet needs into specific opportunities for Oncology focus at the customer level. This role spans customer types, products, and diseases within the Oncology business with a responsibility of prioritizing work aligned with the most critical strategic priorities for Oncology. The individual in this role will actively collaborate with Medical Affairs leaders such as TA Medical experts, Field Medical leaders, and Medical engagement specialists. They will also closely collaborate with Commercial around customer specific insights (as appropriate) for the best recommendations and data driven decisions for US Medical Affairs and the US market. In addition, they will share key insights and findings with R&D and Global colleagues through appropriate partnerships and forums to influence opportunities for medicine development and global medical strategies. These responsibilities include some of the following: Develop high quality, advanced analytics solutions and insights for the Oncology TA and US Medical Affairs at the patient, HCP/EE segment, and health system level aligned with critical priorities to: Develop customer focus ranking and scoring algorithms based on priority unmet needs and different weighting of key factors Develop custom maps and segmentations for strategic discussions and field operations execution Predictive analyses at a patient segment, HCP segment (EEs and non-EEs), and health system level for differential opportunities of customer engagement through various channels Simulation and what-if scenarios for Medical engagement strategic planning Effective customer profiling and diagnostic summaries to more deeply understand key drivers, attributes, or contributing factors for more customized and tailored strategic focus for customers Experimental design (test/control) analyses such as specific customer segments or geographies for recommended pilots, e.g. pursuing only one unmet need state in a specific geography for the biggest potential impact for patients Based on a strong understanding of Medical Affairs and the business, actively seek out innovative approaches for modeling patient segments, HCPs/EEs, and Health Systems; Uncover drivers of gaps in scientific understanding and patient unmet needs as well as behavior (as appropriate for Medical Affairs) at the customer level to better isolate strategic opportunities; Research industry trends and academic/external methods applied successfully in business or Medical affairs and evaluate external benchmarks; Partner with peers and colleagues in Medical Analytics and Commercial Insights to ensure application of best practice analytics methods and integrate insights (as appropriate) for a holistic and comprehensive customer view to influence future strategic decisions; Earn the trust of Oncology stakeholder partners to drive data-driven decisions through active engagement, advanced analytics expertise, demonstrated learning, and business acumen; Continually enhance business knowledge and depth of scientific concepts, strategies, and overall business (Medical, Commercial, and R&D) objectives for appropriate business context with analytic recommendations; Ensure advanced analytics method application excellence with attention to detail and quality check measures in place; Demonstrate effective collaboration and strong cross-matrix partnership as well as effective communication across varying levels of leadership (adjusting as appropriate); Demonstrate subject matter leadership with other teams/functions such as Medical Engagement Strategy and Planning, Global Medical, Commercial Insights, CCO (for digital channels), R&D, Global Medical, Global Commercial, etc. to drive efficiencies and seamless decision making; Communicate clearly and simply for stakeholder and Medical leadership understanding; Translate technical concepts into easy to understand summaries and recommendations; Use effective storytelling skills, simple yet impactful visuals, and clear written and verbal communication to effectively share key insights and make fact-based recommendations that inspire usage for data driven decision making; Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: BA/BS in applied quantitative sciences discipline (Business, Life Sciences, Applied Science, Analytics, Market Research, Healthcare Consulting) 5+ years' experience (or 2+ years' experience with an advanced degree) applying analytics and statistical skills in a business setting (e.g. segmentation, predictive modelling, experimental design, clustering analysis, text analytics, and/or advanced decision tree modeling, etc.) 2+ years professional experience with analytics tools/languages (R, SAS, Python, etc.) and visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Spotfire, etc.); Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Professional experience required in manipulating large, complex datasets and integrating/analysing disparate data sources to develop and recommend analytics measures for business decisions; Experience and skills with advanced machine learning/AI tools and approaches 2+ years of experience in life sciences/healthcare Ability to understand and synthesize data across multiple types of datasets Experience/understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and the evolving and rapidly changing healthcare environment; Analytic curiosity to seek out and develop solutions and drive continuous improvement; motivated by challenging, complex problems; Strong business acumen; proven ability to interpret stakeholder needs and develop appropriate solutions; Ability to effectively build relationships across teams with a track record of collaborative partnerships; Strong negotiation and influence skills; Experience with SQL and in-database processing in Databricks environment; Experience working in a cloud-based environment (such as Azure or AWS) Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and under challenging timelines; Consulting experience preferred; Why GSK?
