Site Name: USA - Pennsylvania - Upper Providence Posted Date: Nov 19 2021 GlaxoSmithKline has an immediate opening for an Investigator in degradation chemistry within the CMC Analytical department at our Collegeville, PA site. Job Purpose This position will provide degradation chemistry support for projects across all phases of pharmaceutical development (pre-CS to commercial), working in collaboration with the Team Leader to design and execute forced degradation (stress testing) experiments to elucidate degradation mechanisms and facilitate structural characterization of degradation products. The role may support and/or lead investigations to resolve issues with drug product stability, such as excipient incompatibility or formulation/packaging strategies. This is a laboratory-based role and will require good laboratory practices and documentation standards. Colleagues in the group support mass spectrometry analysis as well as forced degradation studies for therapeutic proteins (e.g. monoclonal antibodies). While these activities are not necessarily requirements for the position, there will be ample opportunities for cross-training in these areas if desired. Why you? Basic Qualifications: PhD/MS in organic or analytical chemistry, or equivalent experience Solid understanding of organic reaction mechanisms Strong analytical skills, preferably in chromatography Proven track record of expertise in organic or analytical chemistry supported by publications and presentations Preferred Qualifications: Background in HPLC/UV and/or HPLC/MS method development, validation, and sample analysis Experience in the structural characterization of small molecules Ability to predict likely pathways of degradation for drug molecules based on molecular structure Ability to design and execute experiments to understand and investigate potential degradation pathways Appropriate knowledge of regulatory requirements for forced degradation (stress testing) studies of pharmaceuticals Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to present results to customers and influence project team decisions related to degradation risks and potential mitigation strategies Project leadership skills Ability to work on complex technical problems in a team setting Self-motivated researcher with excellent organizational skills and ability to communicate in a scientific manner Why GSK?
