Research and Development is at the heart of fulfilling Pfizer's purpose as we work to translate advanced science and technologies into the therapies and vaccines that matter most. Whether you are in the discovery sciences, ensuring drug safety and efficacy or supporting clinical trials, you will apply cutting edge design and process development capabilities to accelerate and bring the best in class medicines to patients around the world.

What You Will Achieve

The qualified candidate will work with a cross-functional development team and take an active role in supporting drug product development by applying his/her knowledge of biopharmaceutics as well as a variety of analytical techniques to support physical and chemical characterization of drug product. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the theory and application of biopharmaceutics. Experience with data modeling, simulation and prediction is strongly desired. Team interactions are important and the colleague must be able to collaborate with and mentor peers as well as effectively interact with leaders as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

How You Will Achieve It

  • The successful applicant will be responsible for developing, designing and performing experiments in understanding the impact of physicochemical properties of API, formulation compositions and dosage form properties on the in vivo performance of the drug product.
  • Utilize in vitro and in silico tools, provide scientific data and assessment to the project team in development of drug products
  • Develop and advance concepts of translational biopharmaceutics with a focus to improve predictive capabilities by linking in vitro drug product performance attributes to in vivo absorption and other performance attributes.
  • It is also expected that the person who fills this role will investigate new technologies and analytical approaches utilizing existing in-house capability to implement new problem solving strategies related to biopharmaceutics aspects
  • The successful candidate will be expected to interact efficiently and effectively with project team members; present data at project meetings; critical review of data; active involvement in solving technical challenges that arise during drug development.

  • MS or Ph.D. in Life Sciences (Pharmaceutical science, Physical chemistry; Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Pharmacokinetics, Biopharmaceutics) + relevant experience

  • 10 years (MS) or 0-5 years (Ph.D.) of practical/theoretical experience.
  • Solid understanding of in vitro characterization methodology and drug release
  • Experience in generating and interpreting biopharmaceutical data and models; understanding of formulation development, preformulation studies, knowledge of using pharmacokinetic models for predicting exposure following oral and other routes of delivery.
  • Knowledge of the development of appropriate in vitro in vivo relationships (IVIVC or IVIVR) using a variety of scientific tools and methodologies (e.g. simulations, modeling).
  • Knowledge of common analytical techniques, such as chromatography, spectroscopy (UV, IR, etc.).
  • Demonstrate expertise through a strong record of publications and presentations; strong oral and written communication skills.
