Summary

Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a full-time research and data coordinator to work with the BCM and TCH Cystic Fibrosis Center. The BCM Adult CF Center provides care for over 300 patients and is located at McNair Campus in the Texas Medical Center. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation supported the development and ongoing maintenance of a national patient registry in which data has been collected for the last 50 years. This data has informed significant changes in the management of patients with cystic fibrosis and has greatly impacted their overall survival. We are looking for an individual assist with maintenance of the registry and quality improvement initiatives as well as oversee research activities carried out at McNair Campus.

Job Duties

This will be 50% clinical research and 50% managing data and data entry from the research.
  • Collects and enters data from both hospital and clinic encounters into the national CF database.
  • Runs real time reports on data entered to ensure, the clinic is meeting their goals.
  • Conducts self-audits to ensure the integrity of the data entered.
  • Works closely with the clinical team to identify quality improvement opportunities.
  • Interviews, screens, and recruits patients for clinical studies; explains process and procedures to educate participants regarding the clinical research study.
  • Performs venipuncture, EKGs, and obtain vital signs on study participants.
  • Maintains records and regulatory documents for research studies.
  • Schedules research participants for tests and procedures as needed.
  • Obtains informed consent from patients to participate in the registry.
  • Attends weekly multidisciplinary cystic fibrosis team meetings.
  • Attends weekly research meeting with entire BCM research team.
  • Attends annual Cystic Fibrosis conference and Registry meeting.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with medical data preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology a plus.
  • Must be interested in clinical research. This is not a basic science lab enviroment.
