Summary

The South Central AIDS Education & Training Center (SCAETC) is one of the regional offices of the AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) Program. Dr. Patel is the director of the regional partner site: Baylor College of Medicine Houston AETC. Dr. Patel's team has also been awarded an NIH grant to evaluate an innovative program with Harris County HIV agencies. The BCM Houston AETC is a diverse and innovative team looking for a passionate, motivated individual wanting to improve health outcomes for people at risk or living with HIV. The Research Coordinator in the BCM Infectious Diseases Section, under the supervision of Shital Patel, MD, will primarily coordinate day to day activities of research/project protocols which include: project logistics, consenting, documents management and following up with research/project participants. This is an implementation science coordinator role and does not involve direct patient interaction. Implementation science is the study of methods to promote the adoption and integration of evidence-based practices, interventions and policies into routine health care and public health settings.

Job Duties

  • Recruits participants* for studies/projects and explains the process and procedures to educate the participants in the research/project. Majority of the projects involve survey and interview research.
    • *Participants for this include health professionals at partner organizations/clinics.
  • Collects participant information; processes documents and enters information into a database.
  • Performs duties related to administering online or in person surveys or interviews, collection of demographic information, and follow-up contacts with participants.
  • Completes job training related the research/project (i.e. ECHO online training, SCORE database training).
  • Schedules and organizes research meetings/special events.
  • Maintains records and regulatory files and IRB approvals.
  • Maintains and coordinates training requirements for the research/project team.
  • Corresponds with participants throughout the research/project.
  • Orders supplies, as applicable.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Three years of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Completing or completed degree in a health professional field (i.e. MPH)
