Site Name: USA - Massachusetts - Cambridge Posted Date: Nov 23 2021 GSK is seeking a highly motivated scientist with an established track record to join the multidisciplinary Encoded Library Technologies (ELT) team. As a member of the ELT Biology Group, you will use DNA encoded chemical libraries (DELs) to identify small molecule ligands to support drug discovery programs across GSK. Specifically, you will be accountable for adapting multiple experimental protocols to basic robotic liquid handlers. You will also be expected to identify and propose novel opportunities to apply automation to current workflows. Growth opportunities exist beyond automation, including direct support of drug discovery programs from across GSK and opportunities to represent the ELT Biology group on cross-functional project teams, ensuring high-quality affinity selections produce decision-making datasets. The successful candidate will have experience adapting manual protocols to automated liquid handlers, including the Agilent Bravo. Hands on experience with molecular biology (e.g. DNA sequencing, PCR, qPCR) and biochemical (e.g. affinity selection, ASMS, protein affinity purification, SDS-PAGE) techniques are required. Experience with biophysical techniques (e.g., SPR, MST) are highly desired. Experience could be in an academic setting or the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry. Finally, the successful candidate should be proactive in identifying problems and proposing solutions. Prior success working in a team environment is critical, including effective communication, prioritization, and organizational skills, a strong desire to succeed, and the ability to deliver on time. Basic Qualifications: MS 4 years or PhD degree and 2 years in biology, biochemistry, or related field 5+ years experience working with robotic liquid handlers in an industrial or academic laboratory setting Experience developing liquid handling protocols on lab automation instrumentation, including the Agilent Bravo and Integra AssistPlus systems. Direct experience with Agilent Vworks software is desired. Preferred Qualifications: Hands-on experience with affinity selection screening techniques, especially DELs, but also SELEX or phage display, or experience with affinity purification techniques is a plus. Demonstrated ability to design, execute, and interpret experiments independently. Strong data literacy is preferred. Previous experience in a biotech / pharmaceutical organization is a plus.
