Postdoctoral Research Scientists

The University of Chicago beta cell/diabetes research group under the direction of Dr. Raghu Mirmira has funded openings for several postdoctoral research scientists with interest in applying/learning cell biological techniques (immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry, confocal imaging), mouse genetic skills, human islet biology, and immunology and inflammation research.  NIH-funded research projects in the Mirmira laboratory include the study of beta cell development and function, human islet gene regulation and mRNA translation, and islet cytokine signaling in the context of type 1 diabetes.  Candidate must have received a doctoral degree within the past 3 years to be eligible.  The University of Chicago Diabetes Research and Training Center is a highly interactive and diverse research environment with a strong history of mentoring and career development of junior scientists.  In addition to a rich research environment, the Center and Biological Sciences Division provide numerous scientific seminar series, career development workshops, and the opportunity to interact with a diverse pool of international scientists in a dynamic and exciting city.  Interested applicants are encouraged to send an updated CV, cover letter, and names of 3 references to Dr. Raghu Mirmira, MD, PhD, Director, Translational Research Center, University of Chicago, via email: mlabpostdocs@uchicago.edu.
