The Division of Computational Biomedicine in The Department of Biological Chemistry is recruiting faculty as part of a UCI bioinformatics initiative led by the School of Medicine and the Donald Bren School of Information & Computer Sciences.

We are seeking outstanding applicants in any area of bioinformatics to develop an independent, innovative research program drawing on large scale, biomedically relevant data, for example related to metabolomics, transcriptomics, genomics and heritable genetic and epigenetic influences. Departmental interests range from single cell and spatial transcriptomics to metabolic and circadian diseases drawing on both model animal and human systems and including relationships to cancer.

Successful candidates will join a dynamic, collaborative program in bioinformatics and can be associated with the Institute of Genomics and Bioinformatics, Chao Comprehensive Cancer Center, Center for Precision Health and Artificial Intelligence, and Center for Epigenetics and Metabolism at UC Irvine. Candidates are expected to lead a well-funded, vigorous research program of high caliber and participate in the training of graduate and medical students.  UC-Irvine offers spacious laboratory space, generous start-up packages, and competitive salaries in a highly collaborative environment with state-of-the-art facilities, such as the High-Performance Computing Cluster (HPC3) and the Genomics High-Throughput Facility.

We are dedicated to increasing the participation of under-represented racial and ethnic minorities as well as women in STEM fields, and particularly encourage applications from these groups. More detailed information about the opportunity can be found at: https://recruit.ap.uci.edu/JPF07130
