The University of California, Irvine (UCI)- Center for Epigenetics & Metabolism (CEM) was created in 2011 and directed by Professor Paolo Sassone-Corsi, until July 2020. UCI School of Medicine and the Department of Biological Chemistry seek outstanding candidates and invite applications at the level of ASSOCIATE or FULL PROFESSOR for a position as Director of the Center with a research focus in the broad fields of epigenetics and/or metabolism.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree, and have an excellent track record of leading a vigorous extramurally-funded research program. The successful candidate is expected to envision and direct the future growth of the CEM, which currently comprises 26 UCI faculty with over 40 NIH grants of more than $20 million annually. The CEM and the Department of Biological Chemistry (BC) are highly interdisciplinary, with particular strengths in cancer, epigenetics, metabolism, circadian biology, and bioinformatics. Faculty of BC benefit from participation in the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of 51 comprehensive cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute.
