Summary

The Yallampalli Lab is seeking talented cell and molecular biologists to work on exploring biological mechanisms of pregnancy related adaptations in vascular and metabolic functions and how these mechanisms are altered in pregnancy-related complications such as preeclampsia and gestational diabetes. The Senior Research Assistant will be responsible to carryout the planned experiments, collect data and prepare for presentations.

Job Purpose

Performs complex, responsible research work of an advanced nature requiring high-level skills and expertise; uses own initiative or supervises others in planning and completing advanced medical or research experiments in accordance with general directions from the principal investigator.

Job Duties

The individual should be self-motivated and enjoy being highly organized, detail-oriented, communicative, and collaborative. The individual should enjoy contributing to ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the laboratory. The lab provides an interactive and stimulating scientific environment and opportunities for growth.
  • Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments; Collects, compiles, and analyzes data.
  • Selects, evaluates, and applies techniques used in routine research.
  • Collaborates with scientists within the lab group in multidisciplinary studies.
  • Develops new techniques to support the pregnancy-related research in the lab.
  • Performs histological procedures: tissue preparation, slide preparation, IHC/IF staining.
  • Performs PCR, Western blotting, and other routine lab assays.
  • Oversees lab maintenance and coordinate lab supplies purchase and utilization.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field.
  • Four years of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.


Other

  • The candidate should be familiar with the basic biological laboratory techniques, data organization, lab maintenance.
