Summary

The Senior Research Assistant will produce large-scale therapeutic products in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) facility for clinical studies.

Job Duties

  • Performs routine cell biology and molecular biology studies.
  • Defines problems and possible solutions.
  • Plans, directs and conducts research experiments; evaluates and analyzes data; prepares reports.
  • Trains and orients less experienced staff.
  • Handles maintenance of equipment and documentation to ensure compliance with appropriate regulations.
  • Produces large-scale clinical grade Viral Vectors, Plasmid DNA and Cell Banks in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) facility.
  • Establishes, performs and interprets tests and experiments designated to determine the safety and identity of the therapeutic agents for clinical trials.
  • Independently troubleshoots experiments and assists with the development and implementation of new procedures/processes.
  • Assists in creating standard operating procedures for GMP productions.
  • Takes routine or required customer actions to meet customers' needs; responds promptly and accurately to customers' complaints, inquiries, and requests for information and coordinates appropriate follow up.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field.
  • Four years of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field. A Bachelor's degree and two years of directly related experience is considered equivalent to a Master's degree.
  • Master's degree with five years of related experience.
  • Cell culture experience with excellent aseptic technique.
  • Experience with other cell biology and molecular biology studies such as DNA, RNA and protein extraction, purification and analysis, precision in preparing materials and recording data.


Other

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to assist with the movement of equipment.
  • Physical Risk: Frequently handles/works with biohazard agents or risks for potential job-related injury, such as those found in an ordinary laboratory or clinic environment.
  • Required willingness to become familiar and to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure that products are consistently produced and controlled according to quality standards.
