Summary

The Department of Urology at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX is seeking a Research Administration Manager. This role will manage the grants and contracts submission process and participate in the pre/post-award management processes. The pre-award will be the primary focus and budgeting/post-award responsibilities will be a secondary focus. Amongst the key responsibilities will be successful submission of research grants, progress reports, and close out. Additionally, the Research Administration Manager will oversee administrative and financial operations of research studies and/or clinical trials.

Job Duties

  • Engages in pre- and/or post- award grant management activities.
  • Provides financial management and accountability, including developing budgets, monitoring budget and grant expenditures, reconciling accounts, financial reporting, and ensuring federal and institutional accounting standards are met.
  • Establishes and implements quality assurance and quality control measures/oversight and ensures adherence to College policies and regulatory standards.
  • Recruits, trains, and supervises research administrative staff.
  • Prepares grant and subcontract submissions internally (BRAIN) and externally (Sponsor sites).
  • Contributes to the development and continuous improvement of the pre-award and post-award grants management process; reviews and analyzes current protocols, faculty-staff communication, and quality of the submission process; makes recommendations for process revisions and implements changes as appropriate.
  • Reviews and approves grant applications, certifying summary data in the College's electronic Biomedical Research ane Assurance Information Network (BRAIN) on behalf of the department.
  • Contributes to the preparation of budgets for grant quarterly/biannual/annual reporting purposes.
  • Prepares financial reports and tracks research mission financials for department leadership review for financial performance of grants and contracts.
  • Ensures compliance with all guidelines.
  • Prepares outgoing subcontracts and reviews incoming subcontracts.
  • Works with the PIs to ensure timely submission of all required documentations.
  • Assists with maintaining correct effort reporting; manages timely invocing for the studies and trials.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree. Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Four years of relevant experience.
