Summary

The Postdoctoral Associate will be expected to contribute to the broad research effort in the Texas Children's Cancer Histiocytosis and Lymphoma Program Lab. Will conduct laboratory experiments on research projects with focus on immunology, immune disorders, lymphoproliferative disorders and lymphomas. Must keep abreast of current publications relative to methods, techniques and developments within area of research; successfully compete for extramural funding from National Cancer Institute, National Institute of Health, Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, and additional foundation grant sources; summarize data and provide supervision and guidance to junior level technicians. In addition to directly performing the proposed immunology and molecular biology experiments, will coordinate studies with collaborating clinical and translational research teams. Must be able to work in a team environment.

Job Duties

  • Perform research techniques that focus on molecular biology (e.g. tissue processing, nucleic acid extraction, tissue culture, PCR, flow cytometry, mouse colony maintenance) and immunology with experimental systems as well as primary human and mouse tissues.
  • Conduct laboratory experiments on research projects with focus on immunology, immune disorders, lymphoproliferative disorders and lymphomas.
  • Keep abreast of current publications relative to methods, techniques and developments within area of research.
  • Successfully compete for extramural funding from National Cancer Institute, National Institute of Health, Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas, and additional foundation grant sources.
  • Summarize data and provide supervision and guidance to junior level technicians.
  • In addition to directly performing the proposed immunology and molecular biology experiments, will coordinate studies with collaborating clinical and translational research teams.
  • Work in a team environment.


Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field
  • No experience required.


Preferred Qualifications

  • A strong background in experimental immunology, cell biology, molecular biology experimental mouse model development including qPCR, western blots, Immunohistochemistry, RNAi, mutagenesis, and cell proliferation and migration assays
  • Experience with molecular and cell biology techniques
