Summary
A post-doctoral associate position is immediately available for a highly motivated candidate in Dr. Pedro A Piedra's lab, Department of Molecular Virology and Microbiology, Baylor College of Medicine. This candidate will be advancing our NIH sponsored research in the human organoid systems. The potential candidate will develop co-culture system with our peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) and human airway and enteric organoids to better understand the pathogenesis of human respiratory viruses (RSV, SARS-CoV-2 and other respiratory viruses), and to predict human immune responsiveness to immunotherapies.

Job Duties
- Plans, directs and conducts specialized and advanced research experiments.
- Evaluates and analyzes data.
- May establish new research protocols and procedures.
- Summarizes research findings and publish results in research journals.
- May be responsible for laboratory operations.
- May supervise research staff.
Minimum Qualifications
- MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD/MD degree in Life Sciences or related field with a strong background and knowledge in the field of either immunology and/or virology.
- Experience in multi-parameter flow cytometry and cell-mediated immune responses using functional immunoassays.
- Having knowledge and experience in working with viruses, and organoid cultures or co-culture systems.
- Experience with FlowJo and GraphPad software or similar software to analyze the multi-parameter flow cytometry data.
- Experience with SPICE for polyfunctional T cell analysis would be a plus but is not necessary.
- Familiar with mucosal immunity and the immune response to respiratory infection is another plus.
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills and fluency in English, both spoken and written.
- Commitment to the program for at least two years.
