Job Description:

The Rush University Alzheimer's Disease Center (RADC) is leading experimental and epidemiological center for the study of Alzheimer's disease, which has no preventative drugs, and is expected to soon triple in incidence. Over the past two decades, the RADC has carried out numerous community-based cohort studies to better understand Alzheimer's disease and aging.

The Rush Alzheimer's Disease Center is currently seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to join their dynamic team.

General Summary:

Neuroscientist to work on multiple NIA-funded longitudinal clinicopathologic studies, including projects in the laboratory that investigate brain changes in relationship to nutrition, depression, and cognitive changes that accompany aging.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Use routine and quantitative microscopic techniques (optical dissector stereology, image analysis) for collection of neuropathologic and neuroanatomic markers.

  • Oversee the day to day organization of different components of the project.

  • Work closely with the neuropathology supervisor and neuropathology manager to integrate studies within the general laboratory.

  • Communicate with outside investigators, experts, and companies to investigate new or improved laboratory technologies.

  • Performing tissue dissections, and processing, cutting, and staining human tissue.

  • Order new equipment and laboratory supplies needed to perform studies.

  • Manage and index specimens and data collection for analysis.

Required Position Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or MD degree required.

  • Laboratory background, with experience working in the laboratory with tissue-based studies

  • Proficiency using computers.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
