The Rush University Alzheimer's Disease Center (RADC) is leading experimental and epidemiological center for the study of Alzheimer's disease, which has no preventative drugs, and is expected to soon triple in incidence. Over the past two decades, the RADC has carried out numerous community-based cohort studies to better understand Alzheimer's disease and aging.

The Rush Alzheimer's Disease Center is currently seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow Aging and Health Disparities Research to join their dynamic team.

General Summary:

We seek outstanding applicants for a fully funded 2-year postdoctoral research position focused on understanding racial and ethnic disparities in cognitive aging and decision making. This fellowship is ideal for individuals aspiring to become successful and independent investigators in aging and health disparities research. Training will include personalized mentorship by Dr. Lisa Barnes and Dr. Patricia Boyle as well as other RADC faculty in study conceptualization, data analysis, interpretation of findings, manuscript preparation and grant writing. Group based didactics also are available via ongoing aging seminars offered via the RADC and other Rush departments.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with Rush Alzheimer's Disease Center faculty to conduct analyses of racial and ethnic differences in age-related changes in cognition and decision making, with an interest in social determinants of health; analyses will leverage detailed longitudinal cognitive, clinical, and adverse health outcome data from several large epidemiologic cohort studies.

  • Work Rush Alzheimer's Disease Center faculty to develop research manuscripts for publication in high quality, peer-reviewed journals

  • Prepare a research proposal to generate extramural support (e.g., K01, R01, etc)

Position Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. required, preferably in Psychology, Neuropsychology, public health, biostatistics, or epidemiology.

  • Candidates with evidence of research productivity (e.g., publications, training grants) will be given high priority.

  • Experience and training in disparities/aging research, particularly Alzheimer's and related dementias, strongly preferred.

  • Evidence of strong writing skills required; knowledge of statistical analysis desired
