The Department of Physiology & Cell Biology in The Ohio State University College of Medicine is initiating a search for outstanding scientists for tenure track faculty positions. Preference will be given to those at the Assistant Professor level, however applications from the Associate and Professor levels will also be considered. The department provides a highly collaborative research and educational environment with strengths in multiple aspects of cell biology and physiology, including cell signaling, cytoskeletal actin/myosin function, regulation of ion fluxes, striated muscle structure and function, cardiovascular diseases, metabolic function, inflammation and endothelial/epithelial cell regulation. Excellent candidates in any related areas of physiology and cell biology will also be considered. Individuals with strengths in the cardiovascular field, in cytoskeletal function, genomic analysis, bioinformatics approaches and super resolution imaging are of particular interest.

The minimum requirements for the position are a Ph.D.and/or M.D. degree, post-doctoral training, a commitment to basic and/or translational research, a strong history of scholarly productivity and evidence of excellent potential to maintain an externally funded, independent research program. Individuals will be evaluated on their ability to establish innovative independent research programs as well as develop collaborative areas of focus with existing programs. Individuals with strong communication and interpersonal skills along with teaching experience are preferred. Excellence in teaching at the undergraduate, graduate and professional student level is a priority in the department.

Applications should include a detailed curriculum vitae, a description of research experience (up to one page), a statement of how the candidate would contribute to increasing the diversity of the department and their field (up to one page), and a statement concerning the nature of the planned independent research program (up to three pages). Letters of reference and additional materials may be requested from specific candidates before interviews will be arranged.

Questions or applications as a single PDF file should be sent to: PCB.FacultySearch@osumc.edu.

Applications received by December 17 will be given preference during review; however applications will be accepted until these positions are filled.

The Ohio State University is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation or identity, national origin, disability status, or protected veteran status.
