Assistant Professor Neuroscience

The Department of Neuroscience in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) invites applications for two tenure-system positions at the Assistant Professor rank in our rapidly growing Neuroscience program. Successful candidates will join existing research strengths in neuronal plasticity, pain, memory, anxiety, and addiction. The University offers competitive salaries and generous start-up packages.

We seek to hire two tenure-system faculty members with a research focus in the following areas: 1) interrogating neuronal function at the cellular, circuit, or systems level ideally using expertise in areas of rapid technological advancement such as ultrastructural imaging, real-time in vivo imaging, or advanced circuit tracing/modulation technologies; 2) single cell methods such as transcriptomics as a tool to understand the diversity of functions of nervous system cells in health and disease. The successful candidate will build their independent research program and collaborate with colleagues in our rapidly growing Neuroscience Bachelor of Science Program. The new hires will be expected to teach Neuroscience-based courses within their area of expertise at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

UT Dallas is a Tier One Institution and the fastest growing university in Texas. It houses a dynamic and collaborative Neuroscience research community. Faculty in Neuroscience are active participants in several research centers including the Center for Advanced Pain Studies, Texas Biomedical Device Center, Center for Brain Health, Center for Vital Longevity, and Callier Center for Communication Disorders. Neuroscience faculty also have vibrant collaborations with the UT Dallas Program in Bioengineering and the UT Southwestern Medical Center. The Neuroscience Department is housed in a new research building that opened in 2015.  The building contains state-of-the-art laboratory space and top-notch core facilities. The Dallas-Fort Worth area is an international hub with a strong economy, vibrant cultural atmosphere, world-class sports and entertainment, and nationally ranked public schools.

Applicants should hold a PhD in Neurobiology or a related field and show evidence of a dynamic and productive research program with existing extramural funding or a clear potential and plan for such funding.
