- Perform other duties as needed.
- The candidate may also have the opportunity to be involved in teaching the bioinformatics courses and graduate students in the LLU School of Medicine.
Job Specifications: A doctoral degree in relevant field such as computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, or biostatistics, is required. Significant experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, or biostatistics preferred.
Knowledge & Experience: Must have demonstrable knowledge and experience with data analyses on genomics data including next-gen sequencing (NGS), RNA-seq, DNA-seq, genome-seq, ChIP-seq, DNA methylation, or bisulfate sequencing and microarray data. Also, knowledge and experience on various NGS pipelines, algorithms involving R package/language, Bioconductor and Python with excellent coding ability required. Essential Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact with Principal Investigators, collaborators, students, postdocs, technicians and support personnel of projects. Ability to work with a team to find solutions. Essential Mental Abilities: Ability to problem solve utilizing computer programming, computation biology, bioinformatics, biostatistics and genomics, as well as creativity to design and analyze experiments.
Contact Info: Please send your CV and cover letter to Dr. Wang at firstname.lastname@example.org. The interested candidate (s) should also have three letters of recommendation directly sent to Dr. Wang.
LLU Center for Genomics: The Center for Genomics at Loma Linda University (LLU), Loma Linda, CA, USA, directed by Charles Wang, MD, PhD, MPH (founding director) is well-equipped with cutting-edge genomics and bioinformatics tools, which has gained a national and international recognition. The LLU is located in the east (60 miles) of Los Angeles, CA. The LLU Center for Genomics was a key test site for the Sequencing Quality Control-2 (SEQC-2) consortium multi-center scRNA-seq and WGS/WES benchmarking study projects which aimed at establishing the best practice guidance on NGS genomic sequencing, single-cell RNA sequencing and bioinformatics. Dr. Wang played a key leadership role on the SEQC-1 and SEQC-2 multicenter genomics studies. We recently published three papers in Nature Biotechnology (IF 54.91) including a multicenter study benchmarking single-cell RNA sequencing technologies.
