Postdoctoral Position in Neuroscience - Rutgers Brain Health Institute

A postdoctoral associate is sought with experience in rodent behavior or brain immunohistochemistry. This postdoc will conduct research into brain substrates of mood, memory and other neuropsychiatric disorders in rat models. The project includes developing a new approach to treat such disorders involving circuits that regulate the brain locus coeruleus system. Research will use intravitreal injections of DREADD vectors, immunohistochemical analyses, as well as assays for depression-like behavior as well as anxiety and memory tests, in wild-type as well as Alzheimer’s disease model rats. Join a leading neuroscience lab at Rutgers, with a strong record of post-doctoral mentorship and training, in an exciting new approach to therapies for depression and multiple other mental health disorders. With over 270 neuroscience faculty labs engaged in basic, clinical and translational research, and proximity to New York, Princeton and Philadelphia neuroscience communities, Rutgers offers tremendous training and career growth opportunities. Applicants must have a strong academic record of independent research with a PhD or MD degree. Expertise with rodent behavior or brain immunohistochemistry is required. US citizens or green card holders have strong preference. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, names of 3 references and a cover letter expressing their interest and qualifications to Gary Aston-Jones, Ph.D., Director, Brain Health Institute and Strongwater Endowed Chair in Neuroscience at bhidirector@bhi.rutgers.edu
