Interested in pursuing a career in biotechnology or the pharmaceutical industry? The Kleiger lab at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas has two fully funded positions for postdoctoral scholars that will be in close collaboration with one of the largest and best-known biotech companies in the world. Projects are broadly focused on the ubiquitin system and the burgeoning drug discovery area of targeted protein degradation. In addition to employing traditional structure-function based mechanistic studies, the successful candidate will learn to perform cutting-edge biochemical and biophysical assays on numerous ligase systems and in combination with candidate drug molecules. The individual will frequently liaise with industry scientists of broad scientific backgrounds, providing unprecedented access to the innerworkings of a biotech company and extraordinary network building opportunities. One position has guaranteed funding for four years and the other for two years ($54,000 annually with benefits).

A successful candidate should have a PhD in biological areas relevant to molecular work and at least some experience with cloning and protein expression (baculovirus expression in insect cells is a major plus). Candidates are encouraged to contact the PI directly (gary.kleiger@unlv.edu) with any questions.

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas is a dynamic research institution in a growing cosmopolitan city that nevertheless maintains a highly affordable cost of living compared to coastal cities. In 2021, UNLV ranked in a 4-way tie for first amongst the most ethnically diverse campuses in the United States, and both prior and current Kleiger lab staffing reflects this.

Interested applicants should submit a cover letter describing research experience and career goals, a CV, and a list of three references with phone numbers and email addresses, to gary.kleiger@unlv.edu.
