The Organization

As an independent research organization, the Morgridge Institute for Research explores uncharted scientific territory to discover tomorrow’s cures. In affiliation with the University of Wisconsin-Madison, we support researchers who take a fearless approach to advancing human health in emerging fields such as regenerative biology, metabolism, virology and biomedical imaging. Through public programming, we work to inspire scientific curiosity in everyday life.

The Opportunity

The Morgridge Institute for Research, part of the dynamic research community at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison), seeks an investigator (assistant or associate professor equivalent) to contribute to the Bioethics Theme at the Institute and to the intellectual community at the UW-Madison. We are interested in a talented, energetic scholar who will work with faculty across the UW-Madison on ethical, legal, and social issues related to medical devices or medical and scientific imaging. We seek a scholar whose ethics work focuses on any facet of medical devices or imaging, including discovery-phase research and engineering, product development, adoption and deployment, or the ethics of disruptive emerging technologies.  The successful candidate may also be appointed to a tenure-track or tenured position in an appropriate University of Wisconsin-Madison department and will receive an attractive salary and benefits package plus start-up support.

We encourage applications from curiosity-driven individuals who are committed to collaborations that advance the Institute’s interdisciplinary mission and to building a more equitable and diverse scholarly environment. By the time of appointment, the candidate must have a Ph.D., JD, MD, or equivalent degree in a field related to ethics or science and technology studies (STS).

The Morgridge Institute for Research is a private, nonprofit basic science research institute affiliated with UW. We serve as a collaborative hub for investigators to work together on fundamental scientific questions.

In order to insure the safety of our workplace, proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required unless an exemption is granted for medical, disability or religious reasons.
