I. GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Director, Technical Operations, is responsible for the oversight of the major technical teams within the technical organization at Lampire. The primary responsibility of the Director is leadership and direction of Lampire’s Biotech facility, executing and directing custom project and production performance across broad service areas and teams.

II. GENERAL PROFILE:

  • Manages the technical processes and their adherence to timelines, deliverables, and resources. Responsible for the performance and results across multiple departments and sites as it relates to monoclonal/polyclonal antibody development, recombinant antibodies and/or protein purification.
  • Adapts plans and priorities to address resources, time and operational challenges
  • Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan
  • Provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues or clients
  • Anticipates and interprets client and/or customer needs to identify solutions
  • Interfaces and represents company technical services

III. BUSINESS EXPERTISE:

  • Applies management skills to align staff activities with department objectives
  • Clear fiscal knowledge and application of technical efficiencies

IV. FUNCTIONAL EXPERTISE:

  • Work with a cross functional organization consisting of Operations, Technology, Quality, Project Management and Sales Development, among others, to develop and maintain processes that meet both client deliverables and business requirements.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and effectively resolving problems. Develop and implement corrective actions and preventive actions (CAPA) to unplanned (atypical) events to ensure a consistent and reliable step deliverables across projects and prevent recurrence.
  • Ability to examine an issue from diverse perspectives to accurately respond to meeting client deliverables.
  • Provide leadership on schedule, priorities, and budget to aid the team in accomplishing business objectives.
  • Coordinate the work of the technical team to identify and implement technology-driven productivity and cost improvements. Exhibit behaviors focused on equipment uptime, minimizing cost and maintaining process consistency.
  • Responsible for building/growing the organization’s functional excellence. Develops technical/professional staff through mentoring, goal setting and training.

VIII. DECISION MAKING:

  • Consults on an as-needed basis with next-level manager on more complex decisions and/or issues that impact other units with inter-related processes

IX. STRATEGIC PLANNING:

  • Adapts and implements departmental plans and priorities based on site and division scorecard to address local unit, service and operational challenges


X. RESOURCE MANAGEMENT:

  • Forecasts resource needs and manages allocated budget


XI. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports to the Vice President
  • Manages and interacts with employees within own department
  • Frequent interaction with employees from other departments and sites
  • Interacts with clients
  • Interacts with external suppliers

Education:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology or related sciences; BS or MS acceptable with commensurate experience.

Required :

  • Minimum 7 years experience in technical support of cGMP operations OR M.S. plus 3 years of same
  • Minimum three years of Management or Supervisory experience.
  • Experience in biologics, immunology or antibody development facilities.
  • Highly developed communication, leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Experience leading and managing departmental or cross-functional teams
