Two NIH-funded postdoctoral positions are available at Virginia Commonwealth University to study host-pathogen interactions specifically focusing on pathogenic spirochetes that cause Lyme disease and periodontal disease. The postdoctoral fellows will apply complex scientific knowledge and a multidisciplinary approach of genetics, biochemistry, immunology, cell biology, structural biology and in vivo animal models to understand how pathogenic spirochetes to invade, disseminate, adapt to the hosts, and evade the host immune responses.
The applicant must have recently completed a Ph.D. in the areas of microbiology, biochemistry, cell biology, immunology, or a related field. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual with a track record of research production and a strong background and technical expertise in bacterial pathogenesis, cell and molecular biology, and animal model studies. Prior experience with cell biology and immunology is desirable. Competitive salary will be commensurate with experience. Interested applicants should upload CV and a brief description of their research achievements and interests, and names of three referees to VCUJobs (https://vcu.csod.com/ux/ats/careersite/3/home/requisition/312?c=vcu). Candidate will be considered until the position is filled. Virginia Commonwealth University is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer, and is committed to organizational diversity, equity and inclusion.
