The Division of Life Science at the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology is searching for tenure-track faculty members at the level of Assistant Professor or higher level.  We are particularly interested in candidates with exceptionally strong records in the areas of neuroscience, stem cell biology, biotechnology/synthetic biology, immunology, structural biology (Cryo-EM) and chemical biology.  Applicants whose research programs that are outside the above areas but will complement or enhance the existing strengths of the Division are also welcome.  Successful candidates are expected to establish an independent and internationally recognized research program and to contribute to the missions of the Division in undergraduate and post-graduate education. 

The Division of Life Science (life-sci.hkust.edu.hk) currently has 35 faculty members working in diverse research areas.  The University has a vibrant research environment and is ranked as one of the top universities in Asia.  The medium of instruction and administration is English.  The new faculty members will be provided with competitive start-up funding.

Starting salary (with full 12-month coverage) will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits including medical and dental benefits, annual leave and housing (where applicable) will be provided.  Appointment at Professor rank will be on a substantive basis.  Initial appointment will normally be made on a 3-year contract and renewable for another 3-year subject to mutual agreement.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of the contract.
