Tenure Track Assistant or Associate Professor in Quantitative Virology

The Department of Microbiology, Immunology & Molecular Genetics (MIMG) and the Institute for Quantitative and Computational Biosciences (QCBio) at the University of California, Los Angeles, seek to hire an outstanding candidate for a tenure-track Assistant Professor or tenured Associate Professor position with an innovative research program that leverages computational and/or experimental approaches to address fundamental questions in quantitative virology with special emphasis in pathogenesis studies and/or host pathogen biology.

The ideal candidates will lead a creative and impactful research program in quantitative virology and/or pathogen-immune interactions and/or viral pathogenesis. The candidate will employ cutting edge theoretical approaches, computational approaches of data analysis, and/or dynamical modeling. The successful candidate may seek to have a wet lab for data generation or leverage public or collaborator data.

UCLA hosts thriving communities of microbial, cell, and systems biology, virology and immunology, computational biologists, and is well-known for collaborative studies across disciplines. Scientists in MIMG and QCB interact seamlessly with those in other departments and institutes on campus, such as the Immunity, Inflammation, Infection, and Transplantation (I3T) Theme, the Immunity, Microbes & Molecular Pathogenesis (IMMP) PhD program, and the California Nanosystems Institute, Institute for Biological Physics, David Geffen School of Medicine, School of Engineering, etc.

The successful candidate will contribute to our undergraduate and graduate teaching missions in the MIMG major, and in the Computational and Systems Biology major. We are particularly interested in candidates who have a documented interest in mentoring and other contributions to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. A PhD or equivalent degree in computational, molecular, cell or systems biology, virology, genetics, ecology and evolutionary biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, physics, mathematics, or computer science or related fields.
