Van Andel Institute is recruiting postdoctoral fellows in the areas of cancer epigenetics, neurodegenerative science, cell biology, structural biology, and metabolism and nutritional programming. In addition to its existing postdoc programs, VAI has two new funding opportunities for postdocs — the Inspire Fellowship and an NCI-funded Cancer Epigenetics Training program (T32).
About the Inspire Fellowship. Diverse backgrounds, expertise and viewpoints are foundational to exceptional science and innovation. VAI’s Inspire Fellowship is designed to increase representation at VAI and in the broader biomedical research community by supporting postdoctoral fellows who identify as members of underrepresented racial and ethnic groups (as defined by the National Institutes of Health). The fellowship offers:
- Extensive research training in the Institute’s labs
- Access to state-of-the-art Core Technologies and Services
- Fellowship-specific professional development activities
Eligibility: Applicants must be within 12 months of completing a Ph.D., M.D., or other appropriate terminal degree. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents who identify as members of an underrepresented racial and/or ethnic group (as defined by the National Institutes of Health).
About the Cancer Epigenetics Training program. CET prepares postdoctoral fellows to become independent research leaders in the field of cancer epigenetics. The program offers:
- Interdisciplinary research training in cancer epigenetics
- Access to state-of-the-art Core Technologies and Services
- Extensive professional development
- Integration with established translational research programs and partnerships led by VAI investigators (such as the Van Andel Institute–Stand Up To Cancer Epigenetics Dream Team)
Eligibility: Applicants must be within 12 months of completing a Ph.D., M.D., or other appropriate terminal degree. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Individuals who identify as members of an underrepresented racial and/or ethnic group (as defined by the National Institutes of Health) are strongly encouraged to apply.
