Position Summary : Our group in the Department of Immuno-Oncology of the Beckman Research Institute at the City of Hope is interested in developing novel therapeutics for the treatment of difficult-to-treat malignancies occurring in the pancreas, lung and blood. We are currently exploring cancer vaccines to elicit immunity capable of eliminating cancers over-expressing tumor-specific antigens. The successful candidate will participate in laboratory research by performing bacterial, molecular, and mouse work to develop, characterize and evaluate efficacy of candidate agents.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
  • Recombinant bacterial maintenance
  • Protein expression analysis
  • Flow cytometric analysis
  • Mouse handling (injections, collection of blood and tissues)
  • Cell culture maintenance and assays involving mouse and human primary T cells (mouse splenocytes, mouse and human PBMCs)


Qualifications : Education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • Ph.D. in immunology, microbiology or related disciplines
  • Meticulous record keeping, impeccable organization and proficiency with databases
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong work ethic, highly motivated, and work well independently and in a team
  • Hands-on experience in various dosing routes to mice and collecting blood and tissues, as well as processing samples for ex vivo analysis
  • Extensive hands-on experience in primary T-cell culture and assays (mouse and human)
  • Experience in imaging, flow cytometry and translational science

Background in cancer models and therapeutics is a plus.

Additional Information:
  • To protect the health of patients and staff and to comply with new State of California mandates, City of Hope staff are required to show proof of full vaccination by September 30, 2021. Compliance is a condition of employment.
