Job Description: The Department of Biological Sciences at Louisiana State University invites applications for a tenure-track Microbial Biologist at the level of Assistant Professor in the areas of cellular microbiology and microbial physiology with research interests that can include among others: host-microbe interactions including pathogenesis; systems biology. Collaborative opportunities include the Department of Pathobiological Sciences (School of Veterinary Medicine), the College of Engineering, the College of the Coast and Environment and the College of Agriculture/LSU AgCenter. LSU’s Center for Computation and Technology offers powerful platforms for research with a substantial computational component.  Successful candidates will be expected to establish and maintain a vigorous, extramurally funded research program and to contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching in the area of microbial physiology.

Job Duties:

  • 50% Develop and maintain an independent and extramurally funded research program ranging across all levels of biological organization.
  • 50% Teach undergraduate and/or graduate level courses in a biological sciences discipline, and direct/supervise graduate students. Participate in service activities pertaining to the mission of the Department, and the advancement of the profession.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in Microbiology, Biological Sciences or related field.
  • Applicant should have a successful track record of productive research and publication, and postdoctoral experience.
