Job Details

The Reinherz lab at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to study HIV-1 vaccine immunology. We use interdisciplinary approaches at the interface of structural, molecular mechanism of antibody-mediated protection and vaccine immunology with the aim of translating these insights into HIV-1 vaccine development. Specific research directions include molecular mechanism of broadly neutralizing antibody, B cell humoral immunity of vaccines and strategies to modulate B cell affinity maturation. The laboratory provides a rich training environment and access to cutting-edge techniques.

Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute brings together world renowned clinicians, innovative researchers and dedicated professionals, allies in the common mission of conquering cancer, HIV/AIDS and related diseases. Combining extremely talented people with the best technologies in a genuinely positive environment, we provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients of all ages; we conduct research that advances treatment; we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers; we reach out to underserved members of our community; and we work with amazing partners, including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals.

Requirements

The postdoctoral fellow will work on HIV -1 env vaccine development and modulation of B cell affinity maturation.  Cloning, expression and purification of proteins, cell culture, mouse model immunization studies, immune sera analyses, FACS for immune cells analyses, B cell repertoire analysis are key tasks.

Qualifications

Highly-motivated candidates with a recent PhD or MD/PhD in biomedical sciences and significant experience in  immunology, molecular biology and biochemistry are encouraged to apply. Technical experience in immunology and methods to examine immune responses (measurement of antibodies, B and T cell responses and B cell repertoire analyses and mouse modeling/handling etc.) are essential. Skills in molecular cloning, biochemistry and cell culturing techniques/protein expression are highly desirable. Candidates should have a publication record in peer-reviewed journals. We are seeking a candidate with excellent writing and communication skills, able to work independently but also effectively with other lab members. Applicants should include a short statement of research goals, CV and three references with their application.
