Gates Ag One Background

Agriculture has the power to sustain us all, but that power is dependent on equitable access to the tools, products and practices needed to increase productivity and support food security as climate change, population growth, and gender inequality increasingly challenge the stability and sustainability of food systems across the globe.

Bill & Melinda Gates Agricultural Innovations (Gates Ag One) is a new nonprofit focused on the priorities of smallholder farmers, with the goal of delivering impactful agricultural products, services, and solutions that meet their needs. Through active collaboration, we will advance innovations that improve agricultural outcomes — aiming to accelerate positive impacts for livelihoods, communities, and the environment.

We believe the best solutions come from an approach that’s collaborative, inclusive, and transparent and Gates Ag One will catalyze new partnerships across geographies and sectors. By building a community of partners from both high- and low-income countries – a network of academic, public, non-profit, farmer and private sector organizations – we can effectively translate the most promising discovery research into products that meet the priorities of smallholder farmers.

Leadership & Culture

We believe that by creating an environment for our employees to thrive personally and professionally, we will have maximum impact toward our missions to achieve our vision. Our culture shapes our choices about what we do and how we do it. We believe that energized people, working well together, fueled by great leadership in an inclusive environment can do extraordinary things.
