Oncology Nurse Writer

Hopeful for those we support, rebellious in our approach, and collaborative by breaking down barriers, AccessHope is seeking an Oncology Nurse Writer to help us uniquely deploy the latest cancer knowledge to the places it's needed most. As an ideal candidate, you'll work independently and as part of a team, to collaborate with subject matter experts, physicians, nurse practitioners, clinical specialists, and leadership to develop high quality medical narratives documenting the diagnosis, course of treatment, clinical outcomes; and other facets of care for oncology patients utilizing AccessHope services template and methodologies. Provides documents in compliance with AccessHope standard formats and documentation standards. Leads and supports other team members, projects, and initiatives.

Key responsibilities
  • Reviews member records and abstracts relevant oncology history to create a clinical summary of a member's diagnosis and treatment timeline by partnering with internal and external sources to request and gather medical records, lab reports, and other pertinent member records for review. Demonstrates excellent attention to details as the individual reviews member files, completes forms and records with accuracy, and ensures files and summaries are accurate to member details.
  • Creates a clinical narrative summary to include the onset, diagnostic findings, treatment regimen history, and recommendations in sequential order
  • Collaborates with teammates and utilizes the AccessHope on-line library
  • Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality


Required qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of clinical oncology nursing experience
  • Current licensed Registered Nurse (RN)


Preferred qualifications
  • Master's in Nursing
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN); Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)
  • 1 year experience as Oncology Nurse Navigator; 1 year experience in Utilization Review
  • 1 year experience writing narratives in a clinical or research environment
