Position description
The University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and seek to recruit a Research Scientist in the Division of Otolaryngology (https://medschool.ucsd.edu/som/surgery/divisions/Otolaryngology/Pages/default.aspx)

The primary purpose of the Research Scientist is to conduct research as a Co-Investigator for translational clinical research in sensorineural tinnitus and hearing loss, including those related to traumatic brain injury. The primary project is the genetics of the aging vestibular system.

The scientist is responsible for the initiation, coordination, integration, execution, and completion of research that aims to better understand the epidemiologic and molecular relationships between audiologic damage and age, chronic noise trauma from military service, and traumatic brain injury. The scientist will be expected to devote up to 15% of their time to research skills.

Appointment will be at Assistant, Associate or Full Research Scientist level based on background and years of experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

 


  • Candidates must have a postdoctoral or equivalent degree in health related fields and experience in Otolaryngology

Preferred qualifications


  • Research background in sensorineural tinnitus and hearing loss is preferred. Expertise in GWAS is also preferred.
